Hedwig Village was primarily settled by Germans built on land generously donated by Hedwig Jankowski Schroeder in the 1900s. As a young single woman, she immigrated from Germany to Houston to join her sister, who owned a hotel and saloon. To this day, the small city of approximately 2500 residents maintains a relaxed rural lifestyle located in an urban setting.

The town is full of amenities and recreational activities, providing residents with many ways to stay active.

Although not as populous as other cities in the Houston area, Hedwig Village is well established. It boasts a large number of restaurants and specialty shops. 

There are many amenities, including its own police force. The popular Hedwig Park is located across from the Village Fire Department street, making it a perfect play to bring children.

The town also has a library and is home to the Spring Branch Independent School District headquarters.
